Welcome to the Biblioblog Top 50 for December 2010 – your guide to the very sexiest in biblical studies blogging.
The (original) Biblioblog Top 50 provides the only objective measure of the top 50 biblical studies blogs. That’s because we use The Jouissance-meter, designed by Lacan himself in the early 1970s, and accurate to twelve decimal places. No longer will we have to rely on the subjective whimsies of dodgy hit-counters, or on the elitism and auto-eroticism of bibliobloggers voting for themselves, or on some mystical determination of top biblioblogs by use of Urim and Thummim. The Biblioblog Top 50 provides biblioblog readers with assured results, every time.
Do you want to know, objectively, the very hottest of hot biblioblogs? Well, now you can. Objectively.

How come Storied Theology ranks so great to get TWO places on the top 50??? (rank 23 and rank 45)

hmmmm… I wondered how Halcomb disappeared. That solves it.

I like this top 50 much better. :-)

Comments like that will please the objective Jouissance-meter no end.

I like the idea, it’s just that you’ve quite obviously got the wrong results. And there’s a hint in the list that makes me ever so slightly alot suspicious that there is no pure objectivity here… but anyway you’re wrong, my Lord, you’ve put the hottest blogger far too far down the list. Please do better next time.

Sexy???? Come on … I think you need a woman (most of the bloggers are male if not all) or a homosexual to do the judging.

Steph, Well, he’s objectively hot, that blogger, but he doesn’t blog much about biblical studies, which hampered his overall score. I note that bloggers aren’t judged on their personal sexiness, just the sexiness of their blogs.

@Madeleine: not everybody can be as hot as Daniel McClellan.
@Steph: I’m afraid you’re going to have to be more *explicit*. How would I know such salacious tales…?

Hey, was I arbitrarily left out of the rankings? I’d like to know. If so I’d like you to explain why. What was your criteria?

You really should read what I write in order to get a feel for what I do. Just in case you haven’t done so here are what I consider my top posts in 2010:

@John – No, your blog wasn’t “arbitrarily” left out. It was objectively left out, because your blog lacked mojo in December.
John W. Loftus said
Ahhh, I see, “mojo.” Yes, that’s the most objective criteria of them all. Sorry for even asking.

I’ve never given much of a damn about this Top 50 thing (or Jim West’s blog… ever), but it does make me chuckle that I’ve appeared on this list while others are obviously foaming at the mouth because they’ve been left off. You see, John, the condition for having some things is the refusal to want them. To gain life, you’ve gotta lose it, and all that jazz (or, if it makes you feel better, you can have my spot — I’ll mail you a sticker with the #42 on it or something like that).

Grateful to see that The Sacred Page made the top 10. I was definitely feeling our mojo working in December. Only one small tweak, it’s “Michael Barber” not “John Barber”–though perhaps “John Barber” sounds sexier. Come to think of it, that may have been what did it for us!
