Some New Biblioblogs

Posted by NT Wrong on April 10, 2011

Here are a few biblioblogs we’ve added to the Complete List of Biblioblogs, over the last couple of weeks, which you simply must read:

Ian Paul Psephizo…It all adds up
Mrs. Rey Reys, The
 Kay Bonikowsky  Happy Surprise
Steve Caruso The Aramaic Blog
Rebekah Devine Primary Word, The
Gustavo Karakey PhD & Dissertation Advice

Ian Paul at Psephizo is an Anglican minister with an interest in Revelation, metaphor, Ricoeur, John, James, and the letters of Paul. Mrs. Rey is a graduate student in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible at Gordon Conwell. Kay Bonikowsky of Happy Surprise has been blogging recently about women in biblical texts. Steve Caruso of The Aramaic Blog has long entertained us with his exposure of contemporary misuse of Aramaic, but now expands his blog to look more generally at biblical studies, with some recent examinations of the infamous lead codices. Rebekah Devine of The Primary Word is doing Masters work at the interface of biblical studies and the arts at the University of St. Andrews, and has an interest in critical biblical scholarship, philosophies of education, Great Books programs, ancient Near Eastern religion, and the poetry of T.S. Eliot and Wendell Berry. Gustavo Karakey offers PhD & Dissertation Advice as he completes his own linguistic/literary study of the Miletus Speech (Acts 20:17-38) and 1 Peter 5:1-9.

New Blog: [Ad Hoc] Christianity

Posted by NT Wrong on March 25, 2011

We’ve added a new podcast blog to the list:

Travis Jacobs, Steve Douglas, and Matthew Raymer [Ad Hoc] Christianity

[Ad Hoc] Christianity provides podcasts on all sorts of themes. It also offers a regular rundown of recent posts in the blogosphere, called “Blogosphere Roundup“, which includes many posts from bibliobloggers. Also of note is that their podcasts have an opening music sequence which sounds a lot like Metallica’s “One.” But it isn’t.

Biblioblog Rankings for 2011

Posted by NT Wrong on January 12, 2011

After conferring with my peeps, Jeremiah and Daniel, we have decided to consolidate the various biblioblog ranking systems on this site. Now, each month, The Biblioblog Top 50 will provide:

  • The Biblioblog Top 50 - measured by popularity or hits
  • The Bibliobloggers Top 10 - determined by the judicious evaluation of the bibliobloggers themselves

The Biblioblog Top 50 records the top 50 biblical studies blogs (“biblioblogs”) each month, according to the rankings provided by Alexa. The rankings, like all site statistics, are not exact, but provide a reasonable indication of relative popularity among biblioblogs. Alexa only provides rankings for stand-alone blogs, or blogs hosted on the main providers (e.g. wordpress, blogspot, etc). The Biblioblog Top 50 is administered by Jeremy Thompson.

A second measure of top biblioblogs, the Bibliobloggers Top 10 is based on votes received from bibliobloggers. Bibliobloggers may email their personal ranking of the top 10 biblioblogs (or top 1, 2, 3, etc.) to bibliobloggerstop10[at]yahoo.com. Please include in your email a link to your blog. Each vote for 1st place will earn that blog 10 points. 2nd place earns 9 points, and on to 1 point for 10th place. The Bibliobloggers Top 10 is administered by Daniel O. McClellan.

If you have a biblical studies or related blog which you wish to be added to the list, please email the URL, blog name, and blogger’s name to ntwrong[at]gmail.com.

[Note: The Jouissance-Meter, constructed by Lacan himself in the early 1970s, has broken down. Regretably, its inner workings are beyond the ken of the psychoanalyst-clockmakers to whom we sent it for repair.]

Biblioblog Top 50 – December 2010

Posted by NT Wrong on January 1, 2011

Original post here: http://www.freeoldtestamentaudio.com/Blog/New.php/?p=2045 (by Jeremy Thompson)

Well, it’s been a crazy year in the history of biblioblogging.  We watched Jim West die and ascend into heaven only to return.  This allowed Joel Watts to be the number one biblioblogger … for a little while.

We witnessed a number of attacks on the Biblioblog top 50.

And, now we’ve witnessed the attempted overthrow of the Biblioblog top 50.

But, in the end, the Biblioblog top 50 transcends all of us … perhaps all of reality. #1 can die, ascend into heaven, and return … it can be attacked on all sides … rebels can stage a coup … but the Biblioblog top 50 … well, it just IS.

So, without further ado, congrats to:

*** Twestie ***

He’s still number one on the list and in our hearts … and, here is your OFFICIAL Biblioblog top 50 (watch out, Joel, Mark Stevens’ team is nipping at your heals).
